There are masterpieces of both styles to be found, although the album really doesn't have the unity of earlier Byrds albums in spite of McGuinn controlling the direction of everything and even taking all the lead vocals (the only time he did so on a Byrds album--and while he does a decent job, the one thing I really really miss on this album.
